Tui-Na/Chinese Medical Massage
Tui na is a Chinese Medical Massage system utilizing the same principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine as Acupuncture. Tui na manipulates the soft tissues of the body through diverse techniques including acupressure and massage. Tui na is a healing form of bodywork that is deeply relaxing and is also effective in the treatment of many healthcare issues including:
- Acute and chronic pain
- Postural malalignments
- Sports injuries
- Digestive complaints
- Premenstrual tension and discomfort
Myofascial release is a soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain. The method engages the myofascial tissue and loads it with constant force until release occurs. To achieve this, practitioners can use knuckles, elbows, or other tools to slowly stretch the restricted fascia. The practitioner moves slowly through the layers of the fascia until the deep tissues are reached.
Acupressure therapy works with the same points and energy channels as Acupuncture. Instead of needles the practitioner uses palms, elbows, thumbs and fingers to stimulate the flow of energy in the body. Acupressure can be done with or without clothing and with or without oil.
Some conditions that can be helped with Acupressure include:
- Chronic Pain
- Back/Neck Pain
- Menstrual Pain
- Sinus Congestion/Common Cold
- Nausea and Vomiting due to Chemotherapy and Pregnancy
- Insomnia/poor sleep
